THE NEW OPENHOUSE
You know how last time I was invited to Turkey? And came back with beautiful pictures!? Well this time, I received an invitation for France and I accepted. Because rule n°1 – you don’t say no to travelling, you would need to be VERY busy to do so; rule n°2 – travelling is always a good idea. So this how two weeks ago I travelled to France, to discover Hossegor in the french Landes. Invited by Accorhotel to discover their new concept, JoAndJoe, and this event was organized in collaboration with Quiksilver and Roxy.
WHAT IS JOANDJOE?
Jo and Joe is a very new concept of open house hotel which Accor had in mind. They wanted to create something for the millenials, which would represent them and make them feel welcome and free. But also which would be founded on three words: security, privacy and friendliness. To realize that they collaborated with specialist such as psychologist, doctors who could study the mindset of this generation which they wanted to reach.
This JoAndJoe is the very first that Accor Hotel has opened in the world, and they are planning on opening 15 in total over the next 3 years. The next one should be in Paris and Bordeaux, so get ready!
I like to think of JoAndJoe as an hostel but with standing. Kind of in middle of a good hostel (not the cheap, dirty ones) and the Generator Hostel – Generator lover represent!! But of course if you are part of those people who just don’t like the idea of an hostel because there is too much “sharing” so read what’s next 😉
They have different types of rooms, shared and private. The shared rooms we’ll go up to 10 beds and the private rooms can be for 2 to 5 people. Practical when you come with friends and wanna stay together.
The rooms are spacious, bright, practical and with VERY comfortable bed. I slept like a baby. Inside you’ll find lockers, beds with built-in: lights, fan, usb socket, plug, and blinds.
If you want to have a drink or eat, you can take advantage of the bar and enjoy the chef’s cuisine. Or you can cook something yourself, if you are up to it, in the free kitchen corner. There is plenty of space to chill, with nice decorations: sofas, footstools, hammock, long chairs, animal inflatables, flamingoes, pineapples… 🙂 And also, the space outside is open to everyone, so you can meet the locals: talk to them, have a drink with them, or dance with them during one of the events organized by JoAndJoe. You will also find a a slackline, a ping pong table and a climbing wall if you are feeling sportive.
25€ per bed – 8-12 people rooms
59€ per room – 2-5 people
* This is for a lunch or diner menu. No longer sure about this price tho. Other prices for breakfast, small bites etc..
HOW ABOUT HOSSEGOR?
Hossegor is a small french seaside resort town by the Atlantic ocean, surrounded by two other cities, Seignosse and Capbreton, next to Spain. They have cute little restaurants, clubs, a city where you can shop and indulge in summer activities. You might want to know that Hossegor is a destination of choice in France for surfing.
WHAT WE DID?
I got there on a Friday evening and left on Sunday afternoon. It was a weekend in between exams – crazy me. But it was my birthday’s weekend so I’m forgiven right??
So I got up 8:00 that Friday to get my face done by a MAC MakeUp artist in Manor Lausanne #BirthdayGift. Thanks again MAC Cosmetics!! Then I took the plane at 13:00, transited by Paris-Charles-De-Gaulle and arrived at JoeAndJoe at 19:00 that same day.
I settled in, met the staff, met the first bloggers who arrived earlier and we chatted around an “Apéro”. In french culture an apéro is when you’re having drinks accompanied by snacks (cheese, bread, tapas, delicatessen, guacamole..) before the actual meal. Sometimes an apéro can also just be an apéro: “Hey, how about an apéro next Friday? Yeah! Sure!”. Soon after that we went to eat at Heads (Heads Beach Brewing Company), at this moment the french bloggers who had a later flight joined us.
On Saturday morning we had yoga, breakfast, went surfing – which was my first time and it was AWESOME. I explain it all on my Facebook page, so go see my funny testimony of this experience. Then we had lunch, in a park, made by Le Mango Tree. Also awesome, plus beautiful and delicious.
In the afternoon everybody went fat biking but some of us – me included – where to damn tired and stayed in. I stayed in bed, deleted/edited some pictures and drank a cocktail. Then at night we had a concert by reunion babe Justine Mauvin (surfer, model, musician).
On Sunday morning, even tho I went to bed at 7:00 I got up at 9:00 and went paddling (also for the first time). And yes! I was tired AF! BUT I loved paddling so I forgot that I was lacking sleep. Plus it was quite soothing. Later I realized that I had missed Ju-Jitsu that same morning and was sad. But hey! We can’t have EVERYTHING, yeah!
Then our stay ended with a lunch back at JoAndJoe, we said our goodbyes and parted ways! Happy to have met each other.

TO WRAP IT ALL UP
Hossegor and JoeandJoe was a great experience overall. Nice peaceful city, good water. The openhouse was good, very friendly and helpful staff, great beds, awesome decor, good cocktails (try the Gin&Tonic and the Pornstar Martini if you visit them), good food and especially G-RE-AT SWEET POTATOES <3
