HAMMAM SPA DAY AT HOME WITH RITUALS
As men and women, we are very often searching how to look our best, how to care for our skin or have a beautiful skin, while we might not have the time to indulge or the financial means to hop and go to a beauty salon every time this happens. And today I want to share with you one major tip that will help you INDULGE and TAKE CARE of your skin from home. With this special “How to create a luxury hammam spa at home with Rituals”.

Ancient hammams or ‘bathhouses’ which date back as far as the Roman times are without a doubt amongst the spa rituals, one the most soothing and invigorating. With hot rooms, exfoliating stones, massage oils, mint tea fragrances and someone who is there to scrub you up and down, it is definitely a regime I wouldn’t say no to. But because I can’t fly you off on a luxury getaway treatment to Morocco, I decided to provide you with ways and products – inspired by the middle-east – to use instead.
Here in Switzerland, having tried the hammam experience, I can say for that it is not the most common thing nor is it the most affordable. Unless you choose to have a feet or shoulder’s only treatment, or you buy a ticket from a good-deal specialised website. I myself LOVE a good old full scrub-down, but if you are shy and don’t want to be exposed naked in front of a stranger, then a feet or shoulder’s only deal is what you need.
Or, you could just do it yourself at home with the new “Ritual of Hammam” products by Rituals. Which I have tested and loved as always. And the smell is ALSO divine, as always.
You need time & patience. So I suggest you choose a day make it into a SPA DAY aka [This is MY MOMENT, don’t you dare interrupt me, or I will cut you].
WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED?
A bathroom, a bathtub (or shower) and hot water
WHY DO A HAMMAM ?

+ have a hella beautiful, sexy shining skin +

HOW TO GET STARTED ?
First of you need to set the mood. Because the mood is everything. So you are going to need
- a few scented candles
… of the following flavours
- Green tea

… the candles may have several of these mixed, or you may get one type scented candles of 2-3 of the one listed above to achieve a nice sweet and spicy mix.
CANDLES… FOR THE MOOD
Make sure you light the candles 10 minutes prior to beginning your indulgent spa session so your bathroom will be imbued with the rich and exotic scent of Morocco.
HERE COMES THE HAMMAM
- Run your shower hot to create steam, then wet your whole body in hot water (the hotter you can deal with).
- Apply a thin layer of Black Soap by massaging onto your entire body for 5-10 minutes.
This nourishing black soap will cleanse and purify your body whilst removing old skin cells, leaving you with a silky soft skin ready for exfoliation.
150 ml – CHF 12.50
NOTE: In fact, black soap is one my favourite skin product. It is the best to keep your skin soft, I have been using black soap bar for years for my entire body and mostly to wash my face and I can’t get enough.
- Apply the body scrub on top of the Black Soap for an even smoother result.
- Dampen shower gloves and use it to massage and exfoliate your entire body in circular motion.
- Then rinse off until all traces of the black soap and salt have been removed.
This will result in a deeply cleansed skin finish
450 g – CHF 26.-
- Massage a thin layer of mud onto damp skin, leave on for 2 minutes, then rinse it off in the shower or let it soak off slowly while taking a bath.
A step to achieve the most purified skin.
150 ml – CHF 14.-
- Squeeze a small amount of gel into the palm of your hand, massage it onto your skin and watch the gel transform.
With this step you will experience the ultimate softness of the foaming shower gel as I did. And you will feel a refreshed sensation on your skin.
450 g – CHF 26.-
- Massage gently onto dry skin.
Final touch to hydrate your skin.
200 ml – CHF12.50
TIPS: For people with extra dry skin, like myself, you might want to apply first some oil on your half wet skin, before putting on the cream. Especially for the winter season.
